The Friends speak:
I have found the Heggan Library Friends group can provide social and emotional support for people who want to serve a place they love. The connections formed working together for the Library enhances well-being within oneself and in the community. Friend '24
I think the Friends bring a community value to both the organization and the library as a whole. Our donors feel good about their used books and jewelry benefiting both the public and the library instead of cluttering their homes or a landfill. Our members feel a philanthropic purpose as well as a social aspect to the Friends organization. A Friend 2024
He really appreciates the ongoing book sale room since it means affordable materials are available to the public year-round, especially since inflation is so high. Anonymous patron 8/2022
(Regarding the Friends' Bookstore): Great people, good selection. Kurt
I like the library because it’s a cornerstone of our community and it’s important for our children to learn. And I work with nice people. It’s one of the most important places in the Township. JD
I’ve always been fond of reading and I like to encourage it especially with children. JO
I like working with the Friends of the Library because everyone is so friendly and I get to see all of the new books that are donated. JA
Friends' Library Bookstore is the ultimate form of recycling knowledge and enjoyment of reading. BG
I joined the Friends as a way to give back to the library. I check out a lot of books and read for enjoyment. It is not practical for me to buy all the books I am interested in reading, so the library is my resource. MF
I love being a part of the friends of the library because it’s a fun group that loves libraries and does fundraisers for the library, and that’s how we support the library. JR
There is a vague feeling out there that libraries have become obsolete - not so! Not only do libraries hold books, but technology, activities, programs, historical displays, you name it. It is important, especially in an age of misinformation, that we stress the importance of the library to the public. The library has always been a friend to me. CM
I like the Library because it stimulates growth and social skills for all ages. Young children get to read to animals. Senior citizens participate in discussion groups for classics like Of Mice and Men. The Library offers a variety of venues to chose from, e-books to films. Looking for a nice place to browse? Visit the Library and enjoy the quiet atmosphere and relaxing environment. GJ
The library is an essential resource for experiencing the pleasure of being a lifelong learner. DW

The Friends of the Library have been very generous during the past twelve years! They regularly provide funds to the library for operating expenses. The members of the group are always advocating for the library. One year, we needed to replace at least one of our computers in the children’s area. These early learning station computers provide educational games for our youngest patrons—those under the age of seven who are learning all about the world! When I asked for one computer, but explained that we could really use two, Janet, the president, instantly suggested that the group just purchase two computers instead of one! These early stations make learning fun for children, and with two available, it’s double the fun!
We wanted to expand our board book collection and we asked the high school wood shop about a collaborative project. They went ahead and built us shelving for the children’s area, just to hold books for toddlers. The Friends of the Library agreed to collaborate on the project and provided us funding to purchase more books for the collection. Thanks to their generosity, young children in the township have exposure to excellent literature, just the right size and shape for them!
As part of our fiftieth anniversary celebration in 2016, we wanted to beautify our grounds with a statue. The Friends of the Library graciously paid for our eye-catching bench with two children reading. Everyone who visits the library can see this wonderful piece of artwork, thanks to the Friends!
